This year’s Royal Poster showcases Selina Yung’s, the Award-Winning Artist and Owner at Clever Clippings, meticulous attention to detail and her ability to breathe life into her subjects. Known for her use of actual photographs and artifacts, her collage style brings a sense of authenticity and depth to the piece. As Selina explains, her goal was to honour both the rich heritage and the diverse representation of the Fair’s participants—animals and people alike.
“For this Royal Fair poster project, I wanted to ensure that every breed and competitor feels seen and celebrated,” Selina shares. “Using photographs of actual artifacts from the Fair allows me to highlight the unique qualities of each animal, from majestic horses to welcoming alpacas, in their truest forms.”
The design also integrates the four main pillars of The Royal—Equine, Agriculture, Education, and Hospitality/Food. Through this thoughtful composition, Selina brings together the essence of the Fair, weaving a narrative that celebrates both tradition and innovation. The gates of The Royal serve as the foundation of the design, symbolizing The Fair’s welcoming spirit, its doors open wide to invite the world in.
